You want to become a blogger?

So I made a blog… What now? How on earth do I make it successful?

This is the question I have been asking myself during the day. When i couldn`t  find an anwser I decided to visit some famous blogs and see what makes them popular. And while all of those bloggers have their own way of drawing people to them, I have found quite a few similarities.

→ I belive that one of the most important components of a good blog are the topics that the bloggers post. People are drawn to the content that is new and interesting.
→ Another thing that is very important when writting a blog is the title. An interesting headline is going to spark the interest of many, even if they are not very keen on the topic.

→ Interestingly enough, the name of the blog and the design is almost as important as the title.

→ While writing, try not to make to post too long or too short. Making it too long can cause the reader to lose interest along the way, so keep it short and simple.

Updating the blog and posting new content regulary is what keeps the blog new and fresh

After surfing the interent and various blogs, writing all the ideas down, i felt like I was missing something. Now, I could say that I went on a long journey to find the anwser and had all sorts of advantures, but that would be a lie. So after consulting with the all knowing google, I found out that the the thing that makes a blog sucessful is writing about what you love.

Virtual reality coming soon?

Can you imagine a world where you only have to put on a pait of glasses, and suddenly you are transported to a whole new reality. A reality that can make all your dreams come true? You can fly, fight, save damsels in distress and do all the things that are impossible in the real world? Well, it might be closer than you think.

Around two years ago a VR enthusiast Palmer Luckey introduced a new idea to the gaming comunity (after the failure of Virtual Boy). A pair of VR goggles that are compatible with a computer. Together with  Brendan Iribe he launched a Kickstarter project and the pair raised a whooping $2.4 million for their project. And so, the Oculus Rift was born. With 360° head tracking, allowing you to seamlessly look around the virtual world just as you would in real life, and a 100° field of view, meaning you are not restricted to the corners of your screen but rather your own eyes, it will probably be a part of the new generation of computers and consoles. The release date has not been announced yet, however it is likley that the consumer version of Oculus Rift will be available sometime 2015. That being said the developer version of the VR goggles can be bought for $350, and the finished product will stayin the $200-$400 price range.

Wheather the emersion of the Oculus Rift can be called a virtual reality is up to the individual, however these are the first steps to achieving it. And if the interest of big name company like Sony, who is making it`s own VR headset called Project Morpheus, means little to you, than the name Facebook defenatly should. In the past year Mark Zuckerberg bought Oculus for the incredible ammount of $2 billion. He even went as far as to say that “Immersive virtual and augmented reality will become a part of people’s everyday life,” However, not many share the enthusiasm of the purchase, including Markus Persson, the creator of Minecraft, who stated that Facebook creeps him out.

The Oculus Rift will revolutionize gaming and, thanks to Facebook, have a big impact on the social media. On some areas less than the others. But to be honest, all those chages and impacts aren`t as important as the fact that I already know what I want for Christmas next year.

And so it begins

Hey there, and welcome to my blog. To get the dreaded introduction out of the way, my name is Maja, 19, and I like chocolate and gaming. I could go on talking about my life, but to be honest you aren`t here for that. You want to know what this blog will be about. To keep it simple, I will be writing about the small thing in life that interest me, manly technology and traveling.

To be honest, when I got the assignment to write a blog for my English class I was exited. But when I sat down at my laptop the same evening I realized that I had no idea how begin. I was never the talkative type, or a gifted storyteller. I am mostly that one girl that doesn`t say much and keeps to herself. So now, a bit late to be honest, I finally gathered the courage to start blogging.

I have no idea how this blog thing will work out, but I`ll give my best and hopefully it won`t turn out to be a complete mess.
Wish me luck. :)
